Tour
the Seven Sisters
Six families have lived at Seven
Sisters Bed & Breakfast over the past 118 years. Built by the
Lawton family in 1893, the Queen Anne house has three bedrooms, a library,
living room, side parlor, dining room, kitchen, two baths, wrap-around
front porch and pergola. The Seven Sisters is completely surrounded by
perennial beds. A white picket fence makes the backyard into a private
sanctuary. In the garden, a system of pools attract birds and other
wildlife to the yard. While there have been no significant structural
changes to the home despite being converted to a duplex in the 1970s,
various families have "dressed it up" with wallpaper, paint
and carpet. All rooms were renovated. Wall-to-wall oak bookcases
in the library, a pergola and modern bathrooms were added. An open
oak staircase, pantry, and oak flooring---all salvaged from century-old
homes---were incorporated into the renovation. The restoration of the
wrap-around front porch completed the project.
